November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor the diverse cultural histories of Indigenous people in America.
Throughout history Native Americans have maintained a special connection with the animals in their natural world, one that has shaped and sustained their culture.
The Liberty Wildlife Non-Eagle feather Repository (LWNEFR) will be celebrating Native American Heritage Month by recognizing this connection with a celebration that will include.
Schedule of Events
- Interactive Room and Education Trail open with Ambassador Animals out all day
- Native American Vendors on site from 9 AM – 4:00 PM
- Beverages and snacks on sale all day (cash and Venmo)
Come honor the Connection
The Celebration will begin with the blessing of the eagles, a rare opportunity to see live eagles up close and be blessed in their presence. The blessing of the eagles has become a major event with 100s of people coming to be cleansed by the smoke of the sacred sage in the presence of the eagles.
Shortly after the blessing, Native dancers, singers, and drummers will begin their performances, while Native artists display and sell their jewelry, beadwork, carvings, baskets and much more.
Live eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, and other wildlife will be on exhibit for the public to see up close. The raptor free flight show will have hawks flying above the crowd!
