Location: Remote (Preference given to candidates residing in Arizona)

Position Type: Part-Time, Seasonal

Hours: 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM, 7 days a week (flexible schedule within this timeframe)

About Us: Our organization is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned, injured, or ill avian and small mammal wildlife. We operate a volunteer-run hotline that serves the public by providing essential information and support for wildlife in need. We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Hotline Coordinator to manage and support our dedicated team of 25 remote volunteers during the peak season.

Position Overview: The Hotline Coordinator will oversee the daily operations of our wildlife hotline, ensuring that calls from the public are efficiently and effectively managed by our team of volunteers. This role requires a strong understanding of wildlife, exceptional communication skills, and experience in managing remote teams. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standard of service our hotline provides.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Management:
    • Supervise, support, and motivate a team of 25 remote volunteers.
    • Schedule volunteers to ensure coverage during hotline hours (8:00 AM to 8:30 PM, 7 days a week).
    • Provide training and ongoing support to volunteers, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and tools.
    • Monitor performance and provide feedback to volunteers to maintain service quality.
  • Hotline Operations:
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hotline, ensuring all calls are answered promptly and professionally.
    • Address escalated calls and provide assistance with complex or sensitive inquiries.
    • Maintain and update the hotline protocols and information database.
  • Communication & Coordination:
    • Utilize SLACK and other communication tools to coordinate with volunteers and manage hotline operations.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, addressing questions and concerns in a timely manner.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Customer Service:
    • Ensure all interactions with the public are handled with empathy, professionalism, and accuracy.
    • Provide accurate information and resources regarding wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.
    • Collect and report data on call volume and types to help improve service delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Experience in environmental and/or wildlife management, rehabilitation, or a related field will be considered in lieu of degree work.
    • Proven experience in managing and coordinating volunteers or remote teams.
    • Proficiency in using SLACK and other remote communication tools.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong knowledge of avian and small mammal wildlife.
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
    • Ability to manage a large, remote team and coordinate schedules effectively.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to remain calm and handle stressful situations with professionalism.

Work Environment:

  • This position is remote, but preference will be given to candidates residing in Arizona.
  • Must have a reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside of standard hours to support volunteers and hotline operations.
