About Graham
Ritz, Triscuit and Graham are all Indian Runner Ducks that were raised for the purpose of being on display and being companions for Cheese, our adult who had lost his friend Quackers to cancer.
They are a non-native species and, in the US, are kept as domestic pets.
Description
Indian Runner Ducks are known for their distinctive, upright "penguin-like" posture and sometimes are called a "feathered bowling pin". They have long slender necks and cylindrical bodies that usually weight 3-5 pounds and come in a variety of colors.
Habitat
Open pastures, grassy fields, shallow aquatic areas
Range
Originally from the East Indies, specifically the Indonesian Islands of Java, Lombok and Bali
Life Span
1-2 years in the wild, between 8-12 years in captivity
Prey / Food
Slugs, snails, earthworms and various insects
Babies / Nests
Produce 150 to over 250 eggs annually. They are ground level nesters that like quiet corners of a coop or hidden in outdoor vegetation that is lined with straw.
