Gopher Snake Facts
Description: Range in color from cream-yellow to green-gray to tan, with large black, brown or reddish blotches on their back and smaller ones along their sides. Most have a dark line between the eyes and another along the angle of the jaw.
Habitat: Found in a wide variety of habitats including desert flats, coastal dunes and coniferous forests, but prefers grasslands and open brush areas.
Range: Found throughout all 4 deserts of the American southwest and beyond, up to 8,000 feet.
Life span: In the wild gopher snakes can live to be 12 to 15 years old, in captivity they have been known to live for as long as 33 years old.
Prey: Small rodents, young rabbits, lizards, birds, occasionally other snakes.
Babies: Females will lay a clutch of eggs ranging from 2-24. Hatchlings emerge within 10 weeks and are large enough to eat small mice. Maturity is reached at 3-4 years old.

Descripción: Distribución de color amarillo crema a verde-gris a bronceado, con manchas grandes negras, cafés o rojas en su espalda con unas pequeñas a sus lados. La mayoría tienen una línea obscura entre los ojos y otra en el ángulo de su mandíbula.
Hábitat: Se encuentran en una variedad de hábitats incluyendo planos de desiertos, dunas costeras, y bosques coníferos. Pero prefieren praderas y áreas abiertas con una variedad de arbustos.
Ámbito de hogar: Se pueden encontrar en los 4 desiertos del suroeste de América y mas, hasta 8,000 pies.
Duración de vida: En la libertad la serpiente toro puede vivir hasta 12 a 15 años, en cautiverio han vivido hasta los 33 años.
Presa: Roedores chiquitos, conejos jóvenes, lagartijas, pájaros, y ocasionalmente otras víboras.
Crías: Las hembras ponen 2-24 huevos, crías salen de su huevo en 10 semanas y tienen el tamaño de poder comer ratones chiquitos. Llegan a madurez a los 3-4 años.
