Any day now, the buzzer is going to ring at our drop-off window, and a kind soul will stand holding a shoebox containing the first baby bird of the season. Maybe a windstorm brought down a nestling. Perhaps an adventuresome fledgling fluttered from its nest to make a go of it on the ground. Injured, or maybe just unfortunate, this first little patient will herald the start of Baby Bird Season.

Liberty Wildlife is now accepting editorial and photographic submissions for the e-newsletter Nature News. We invite you to share your stories and photos with our readership of wildlife enthusiasts. Stories about experiences as a Liberty Wildlife volunteer, interactions with animals and people, the Sonoran desert, wildlife watching, children and nature will all be considered.

Maximum word count 600, and please start your story with a 50-75 word "hook." Entries are subject to editing and will be chosen with emphasis on seasonal timeliness. We do not guarantee your story will run. Published stories will receive a byline. Photographic entries of wildlife are encouraged for the new Photo of the Month feature.

Send us your best shot! Since this is all online, there are no technical requirements for your photographic work. Deadline is the 15th of the month preceding publication. Send editorial submissions to volunteer@libertywildlife.org and photographs to buteo9@mac.com.
