Nature News - A monthly e-publication from Liberty Wildlife

Every day is an interesting day at Liberty Wildlife no matter what happens. There is always something cool to look at. There is always something to help. There is always an interesting job to do. Some days are more stimulating than others by the sheer numbers of the interesting, cool, or wounded thrust before us.

I just thought I would share with you my adventures of the last 22 hours and the seven lovely birds that had a joyride in my Jeep. It started last night around 8 PM when I got a call about a barn owl out in Laveen. I grabbed my box and headed out, thinking to myself, maybe I should take the dog carrier out of my Jeep first.

Most of the advanced primates living in the Pit In The Middle of Arizona do not realize that this state is Rattlesnake Heaven. Golf Event

Hey golfers! Liberty Wildlife's 2nd Annual Golf Tournament is coming up on Saturday, September 27! Last year's inaugural was a smash hit, and this time around we have even more in store for golfers, from you hackers (you know who you are) to those of you with the low handicaps. This year's Hawaiian theme allows everyone to deck out in their favorite luau attire, and includes Polynesian entertainment and a Hawaiian-style buffet. This will be a four-person best ball tournament at Starfire at Scottsdale Country Club. $100 per person includes green fees, cart, awards banquet, and one of the best tee bags in the Valley. The Albatross Auction will feature wonderful getaways to Inn of the Mountain Gods in New Mexico, and Torreon Golf Resort in Show Low...and that's just for starters. Join the bidding in the live auction for a six-night stay in Hawaii or a Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Dinner...and more! Come on out and enjoy the Tiki Bar, Hawaiian shaved ice, lots of prizes (you could win a Jeep Liberty with a hole in one) and a day to remember. Call Melissa or Jan at 480-998-0230 to reserve your spot, and better hurry, we are just about full!

Liberty's Research and Conservation team works to help protect species such as this. As a result of the ever-expanding Valley, burrowing owls are quickly running out of nesting sites. This interesting and charismatic species is unique in that burrowing owls nest in burrows on the ground and roost on nearby bushes, trees and manmade structures. Unfortunately, they do not create the burrows themselves and require existing sites typically constructed by other wildlife
